The latest report from the mortgage insurance firm, PMI Group says that Dallas – Fort Worth is one of the last places in the country likely to see a drop in home prices during the next couple of years. The spring index report states that there is less than a one percent chance that home prices will fall in our area.
Excess supply is responsible for much of the risk that PMI Group sees at this time. The excess supply of housing in the United States is 9.2 months for existing homes; the Dallas Fort Worth area has a supply of just over 6 months for existing homes. The median price during the first quarter of 2008 was down just one percent.
